JAN MOON, Owner & CEO:

Jan has been creating wedding cakes for brides & grooms in the Birmingham area for over 20 years.  After getting her degree from the University of Alabama, Jan worked in the test kitchens of Southern Living & Cooking Light before striking out on her own with Dreamcakes.  She lives in Birmingham with her husband, Gary.  They have three children: Ben, a manager at the McWane Science Center; Katie, her partner & Creative Director at Dreamcakes; and Jackson, a firefighter in the Mt. Laurel area.  She is the proud Gigi of Holland Moon and a proud fan of Brett Favre.

KATIE MOON, Creative Director:

Katie has been watching her mother bake & design cakes her entire life, & her passion has caught on.  A graduate of psychology from Samford University, her unique flavor creations help make the bakery a trendsetting spot for the Birmingham culinary scene.  When she’s not working, Katie can be found reading (she likes Harry Potter), listening to music (current fave: Florence and the Machine) or dreaming about traveling.  She also has a deep, abiding love for red lipstick, which she wears very well.

ERIN SHILAND, Senior Baker

Dreamcakes simply would not be the place it is today without the help of a dedicated intern turned Senior Baker.  Erin joined the team at the bakery in 2009 and soon proved herself to be invaluable.  She graduated from the Institute of Culinary Education in New York with an emphasis in Pastry Arts.  Erin hopes one day to create fantastic wedding cakes of her own.

WIL DRAKE, Senior Baker

The only set of XY chromosomes at the bakery, Wil brings his own personal touch to the world of cupcakes.  Although he is famous for his Irish Car Bomb cupcakes, Wil is also legitimately famous as a rock star; he plays drums for the band Blue Cut Robbery.  He graduated from Samford University with a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.  Wil is sweet on his wife, tattoos, and all things sugary.  He’s got big plans to travel the world one day, spreading his love of dessert to mankind.  First stop - Toyko.  His nickname at the bakery?  That would be Sir Breaks-a-Lot.  Form your own conclusions.
